Welcome to Reception
Our teachers are Mrs Ali in Cherry class and Mrs Hixon in Plum class.
We are very lucky to have several Teaching Assistants who support the children with their learning.

Reception Teacher's Message
Hello, my name is Karen Crossman and I am the EYFS lead at Greenbank primary school. I am passionate about supporting children to learn through play, curiosity and positive relationships, helping them to feel happy, confident and safe as they grow and develop.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading and spending time outdoors, especially walking my dog in the countryside. I love travelling and exploring new places with my husband, and I really value spending quality time with my family.
Here are some ideas of how you can support your child with our Reception curriculum:
- Share stories together every day. Enjoy books with your child and talk about the pictures, characters and what might happen next. You could read our Reception authors: Martin Waddell, Julia Donaldson and Eric Carle.
- Talk about numbers in everyday life. Count toys, steps, snacks or cars when you are out and about. Can your child recognise some numbers around them?
- Encourage your child to draw, colour and mark-make. This could be with pencils, crayons, chalk or even water outside. Talk about what they have drawn and praise their efforts.
- Spend time outside exploring your local area. Look for different plants, animals and seasonal changes. Can your child spot birds, flowers or changes in the weather?
