Welcome to Year 4

Our teachers are Mrs Pritchard in Birch class and Miss Anderton in Maple class.
We are very lucky to have several Teaching Assistants who support the children with their learning.

Year 4 Teacher's Message

We’re Miss Anderton and Mrs Pritchard, and we’re so excited to share a little about ourselves. Year 4 is a happy, purposeful learning environment where curiosity, creativity and confidence grow every day. We both have a huge love for the performing arts, and you’ll often find us squeezing in a sing‑song whenever we can. Outside the classroom, we both enjoy crochet and usually have several projects on the go! Miss Anderton loves spending time outdoors, especially hiking up mountains, and her favourite topic to teach is the Romans, particularly the story of Boudicca. Mrs Pritchard treasures time with her grandchildren, and she’s passionate about teaching the history of Rochdale, a place she’s proudly called home for many years.

Here are some ideas of how you can support your child with our Year 4 curriculum:

  • Visit the library and read some books by our class authors; Guy Bass, Zanib Mian and Jeff Kinney.
  • Look around your house and talk about which appliances run on electricity.
  • Take a family visit to a local village, e.g. Norden, Wardle or Littleborough and talk about how it is different to a town like Rochdale.
  • Together, can you research what life was like for a Victorian child who grew up in Rochdale?
