Our feelings and actions regarding the Ofsted report:
We are incredibly proud of our Ofsted report and delighted that inspectors recognised so many of the things that make Greenbank special. They described a school where “an ethos of kindness permeates”, where pupils feel a “deep sense of belonging”, where relationships with staff are warm and trusting, and where pupils benefit from an ambitious curriculum and an extensive range of opportunities and enrichment.
We want to be very clear that the ‘Needs attention’ judgement for Attendance and Behaviour relates to attendance, not poor behaviour. Ofsted found that pupils’ behaviour is “studious”, classrooms are “purposeful environments where learning proceeds with little interruption”, pupils “behave with consideration for others” and “bullying is rare and is dealt with swiftly.”
Our priority is therefore clear: improving attendance. Ofsted recognised that persistent absence is reducing, but we know there is more to do. School will continue to support families and address barriers to attendance, but this is a shared responsibility. We ask parents and carers to support us by ensuring children attend every day they possibly can and, importantly, by not taking holidays during term time. Together, we can make sure every child benefits fully from everything Greenbank has to offer.
